About Swiftstrike
Swiftstrike is a Swedish defence-technology company. We build hardware and the
AI software that runs it, from edge to command. Our products are developed with
experienced operators and refined through real-world field testing, and everything
we build is designed to be cost-effective at scale and priced for fielding in numbers.
The role
The people who use our systems make decisions under pressure, often in the field. The
quality of their experience is a mission and safety concern, not a nicety. As our User
Experience Engineer, you will own the experience across everything people interact with
at Swiftstrike: the operator-facing apps we field, and the internal tools and apps our
own team relies on to build, test, and run the systems.
You will set the bar for how our software looks and behaves, and build the components,
patterns, and prototypes that get us there. You will work close to the engineers building
the product and the operators using it, and make complex, high-stakes software feel clear,
fast, and trustworthy.
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end user experience across our external, operator-facing applications and our internal tools.
- Turn complex system behaviour into interfaces that stay legible and fast under pressure.
- Design and build production UI, not just mockups: you prototype, then ship.
- Establish a shared design language and component library, and raise the consistency of everything we field.
- Work directly with operators to understand how decisions get made in the field, and fold that back into the product.
- Partner with engineers across hardware and software so the experience holds from sensor to screen.
- Bring rigour to usability: test with real users, measure, and iterate.
What we're looking for
- Strong experience designing and building user interfaces for complex software, ideally where users work under time pressure or high stakes.
- Fluency across both design and front-end engineering. You are comfortable in a design tool and in a codebase.
- Proficiency with a modern front-end stack, such as TypeScript and React or similar.
- A portfolio that shows you can make dense, information-heavy software feel simple.
- The judgment to own experience as a discipline and set the standard others build to.
- Professional fluency in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with real-time data, mapping, or command-and-control style interfaces.
- Experience designing for operators, field users, or other demanding, non-office environments.
- Familiarity with data visualisation.
- A background from the armed forces or from defence.
- Swedish language skills.
What we offer
- The software you shape is used to make real decisions when it matters most.
- Ownership of an entire discipline. You define how a defence-technology company designs and builds its software experience, from day one.
- Work that spans the whole product, from operator-facing apps to the tools your own team lives in.
- A team that ships, with operators close enough to give you fast, honest feedback.
- An office in Stockholm, plus time in the field with the systems.
- Competitive compensation, including equity options, so you share in what we build.
Given the nature of our work, employment may be subject to a security review and
to citizenship or residency requirements applicable to Swedish defence industry.
We will discuss this openly during the process.
